

The MicroTally® Mitt is a versatile tool designed for manual aggregated surface sampling. It offers a convenient, one-handed operation and complements the MicroTally® Swab sampling method. Ideal for detecting pathogens such as Salmonella, Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), E. coli O157:H7, and other indicator organisms, the Mitt is frequently used for sampling beef trimmings. Both the Mitt and its accompanying bag are sterilized post-manufacture. After use, the Mitt can be placed back into the provided sterile bag for cultural enrichment. The bag features a wire-closure design, ensuring secure containment while allowing easy opening and resealing during sampling.
Constructed from non-woven, spun polymer cloth, the MicroTally® Mitt is sterile and specially engineered to capture and retain surface bacterial pathogens. It is sealed on three sides, partially at the base, and includes a 5” opening to accommodate a nitrile-gloved hand. Each Mitt measures 10” x 10” and is packaged in a disposable sterile wrap.
Every MicroTally® Mitt is supplied with a sterile, polymer sample bag. This bag is leak-proof, tear-resistant, transparent, non-toxic, and non-reactive. It includes a wire closure for secure sealing and a white write-on panel for clear sample identification.
